Vellfire1 Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Have just replaced the centre front and centre rear engine mounts. Very easy job once you have the vehicle raised securely. The centre rear is very accessible from underneath only once you remove 2 small splash guards underneath. 17mm deep and short sockets and each bolt/ nut can be seen and worked on easily. Support the engine near the mount and the mount will literally lift off - you can see and reach every part of the mount. 30 minute job. Same for the front centre mount, same process, remove the splash guard and you will see the bolts/ nuts. This one requires the deep 17mm socket and a standard 19mm socket. Best to use the 1/2" drives to loosen as they are very tight, no rust just tight.... Again 30 minutes. Local Toyota were happy to do the job, waiting time 8 weeks and quoted £685 all in.... I did use genuine parts at a total of £178... Smooth as silk as they should be... 1

Second, your local Toyota dealer was able to support you. Thirdly, that they would have carried out the work for those of us unable, or unwilling, to so. Did you buy the genuine parts from Toyota dealership? or a factors? Thanks
Vellfire1 Posted December 15, 2021 Author Posted December 15, 2021 CT I intend to keep the Vellfire, so bought the genuine parts from Toyota. The mileage is not the issue, it is mostly the age of the Vellfires that necessitate a change due to the rubber ageing. Mine was hitting 13 years and low mileage - i suspect that all Alphards and Vellfires will have the same age related issues with engine mounts. It's a very easy job and the improvement is remarkable. Even if the rubber mounts look not worn, they will most certainly have sagged over time and brought the metal components closer together resulting in a loss of smoothness in the drive. Remember, these vehicles are the Rolls Royce of the Toyota family, if they are not absolutely smooth, something somewhere needs addressing. 1
