Direct Line

Not bad pricing either.

I have heard good things about Direct Line, The only issue is not all phone operators can find the car in their lists for some reason. But they definitely deal with Alphards

In our 3rd year of Alphard ownership so tried a few insurance companies for quotes. 1st year was Sky then found Advance Insurance in Chippenham (after Sky wanted a huge premium hike & no claim to justify it).

Last Sept. wife got bashed up the rear (bumper & tailgate damage no rear lights broken) The other party's Admiral Insurance admitted immediate liability they took the car then said it could not be repaired. I went back to Advance who put me in touch with Ageas our actual insurer. Ageas sorted out all problems admirably. This year's renewal had no price hike. Throughout the claim/repair process of 2+ months we were driving a Htundai I800 at no cost to ourselves.

Our Alphard is now (very nearly) as good as it was before the accident.

Advance & Ageas have been brilliant so I recommend them wholeheartedly, Admiral I have concerns about - they are insuring peoples Alphard & apparently a minor accident would result in them wanting to scrap the vehicle! this was an option we were never going to accept

Adrian Flux £1890 with £3000 excess  - Jeepers, that's crazy.

I'm with Pace Ward who insured my Evo's and Subaru's - £400 fully comp. I'm 43 with full NCD - i don't think my insurance will ever go down, last few years all my quotes have been around that mark.

Had a laugh with the lad on the phone at Direct Line - i think they quoted about £900. The bloke asked if i had 5 mins to spare for a wee experiment. Used the same details and put down the car as a Dodge Viper GTS - Came in at just under £700. Then put in for a Nissan GTR - Quote came back just a tad over £500!!!

Having just bought an Alphard ive tried a few insurance companies and i think depending on the time of day which phase of the moon we are in depends on what they quote you, Adrian Flux has quoted me 650 whilst Mark Richards said they could not get me a quote so you pays your money and takes your chance. <safe motoring everybody

We have owned a 3L 2002 Alphard for 3 & a half years now & live in Essex.

First year with Sky, no problem - no need to claim.

From the second year we went with Advance ( who insured us with Ageas) - upon having a no fault (to us) rear ender the other side's insurer (Admiral) wanted to write our vehicle off, we did not want this, Ageas had a proper engineer employed by them work with us, we got a satisfactory repair at no cost to ourselves & no increases in premiums subsequently because of the accident.

We are still with Ageas & I sing their praises because Admiral were frankly nasty & Ageas got our claim sorted at their inconvenience & at Admiral's cost!

Hi, we've had our V6 3litre Alphard for almost one year. Road tax renewal was 265.00 for the year. just recently paid.  Have current insurance through Advance Insurance with Ageas. Premium is 867.96 including free legal expenses cover and road rescue.  No claims made .  Starting to look for insurance renewal right now.  Going back to Advance first to see what can be offered.  When getting quotes last year Adrian Flux was off the wall, over £1000.00.  It really does seem like pot luck with these companies.  Much appreciate the list at the beginning of the thread. Will be trying a few after quote from Advance given.  Although our vehicle isn't converted to a camper I think we got our insurance on this basis as we use it for camping trips sleeping in it.  Think this helped with the pricing as mileage would be lower it was estimated as not using vehicle as everyday runaround.

This topic was very useful for me. Just registered my Alphard 2010, 2.4litre Petrol and insured using links, I am 48, 8years NCD, 8years living in the UK, Adrian flux quoted more than 730£, LVE could not find the car. Jap cover quoted 366£, Lifesure 496£, finally Advance quoted me KGM by 354£ and I got it. I am still on cool down time. Drove 300miles this weekend. Nice!!

Thanks all for the good information.

Mark Richard's will not insure on the chassis number, for those of you who are importing your own Aphard/Vellfire.

They also state that they think the loophole where you can drive from the MoT Station to your home whilst unregistered (but insured+) has now been closed??

Lifesure Group are quoting iro £500 (74 yrs, parked in road, 9yrs NCB), the best quote so far (Adrian Flux £630, Mark Richard's no quote as above) but I'm still looking.  My Vellfire doesn't arrive for a few more days!

I insured mine a month ago through Admiral and it came in at about £22 a month for myself and the missus (3.0L V6 2004 Alphard). I do have 14 year no claims though, so that probably helped - and I have another vehicle insured through Admiral (a 2016 Ford Ranger 2.2 XLT). I think I was an extra 80p a month to protect my no claims too!
