Umm yep, i've changed 3 in my lifetime (Estima, Toyota Aygo & Smart Fortwo). all about an hour to do. Looking at my 3Ltr Alphy i would say the exact same amount of time. Unplug battery, take of all old lines from replacement abs module, take off all connectors (electrical) and bolts holding the old unit thats on the van off. Take a 10mm/12mm spanner and undo all nuts from brake lines, then swap over quickly making sure to securly put the nuts on and make sure all pipes are in the right holes. (no-one wants a pipe in the wrong hole). Then tighten all up and plugin eletrical connector. Then plugin your odb reader/software and run the pump to bleed the system. then bleed the brakes. I do have Toyota Tech Stream I can send you to use, but you will need to have a laptop and a usb ODB reader todo this. If not then run the bleeding sequence a few times, take it around the block (carefully) slamming the brakes on to make the abs pump kick in. then re bleed. (i used to just fire the pump from the battery using some wire to the + and - from the battery to the pump about 5 seconds should do it no more though, *at your own risk as i've burned one out doing that before).

Hi Appretice Camper. 😀 This is a good topic. Personally I have a portaloo in the back. the camping one. We've blacked out the back of our standard alphy and then put a sheet between the 2nd row and 3rd for privacy. then i had a windscreen cover for the rear window (fastened jacket poppers to it and put them on the trim so it's a nice private space). Then this is where it gets interesting, I have bought an extraction fan which goes on a window and locks into position. We did have a camping stove but got rid of. Next is a plugin fridge we use that goes onto the 120v behind the drivers and passenger console. As for sleeping, not got around to that one yet. This way it does not affect our insurance. :)

Trust get a 2nd hand part and do it yourself. it's easy todo. But make sure you disconnect the battery first.

Hey Adam, Are you at home or away? If you have a spare/service key you can unlock manually and start the car. Toyota should have a record of them but you might need to contact Toyota Japan for the key code. or contact Master Locksmith Association.

All you need is the same ampage and wattage over hours and terminal side. I.e. The pos is on the left, then look for any battery on left.

Heres my finished article. Two M6 screw bolt on the rear, there are 4 little screws to undo. Once undone you can thread the bolts through the rear mount. Then mark your hole positions on the dash just above the cupholder and drill using a 6mm drill bit. Wood or metal will be fine as it's thick plastic. Then screw the backplate onto the cup holders and push into the holes and nut up the bolts. You will need to remove the trim where the radio is but put the car in N, and the panel lifts up, carefully as you need to undo 5 wiring connectors. Then you've got a fully new cup setup.

After extensive looking (i.e. camera, pipe cam and pulling trims etc off). I found that you need to remove the whole centre console lower dashboard to get those screws. So i've decided to make my own from the Amazon standard vent cup holders. I bought these CupHolders , Next I remove the air vent clips, put a 4mm drill bit through the retaining back plate and then through the old cup holder cover/pull arm. feed some 4mm threaded screws through (like faceplate screws) then bolt them on. No more brittle plastic and doesn't cost me over £60. Will post pictures onec I've done it.

Hi all, Has anyone removed the dashboard cupholder for the 2002-2005 models? Looking as we have repaired it 8 times now and this time the plastic just broke and is now horrible to repair (which it cant be).
