Toyota Alphard 3.0 Auto MNH10W  Transmission U151E

I am really sorry if someone has already  asked this question and I am duplicating it. It’s just I could not find anything relevant.

It was running perfectly fine but lately I feel the gearbox bit jerky specialy when you are cruising and maintaining same speed.

Also it revs high for gear changes not very smooth.

I am thinking to change gearbox oil, Bought filter, Gasket silicon and recommended(T-IV) TYPE4 oil

I found the drain plug but cannot find oil filling hole. Looked everywhere? Do we need it push oil in from drain plug?

Can someone please help with some instructions what is the best way ?

Also if changing gearbox is worth removing all and gasket silicon would be fine or do I look for genuine gasket?

Please help

Hi Wasi, Welcome to the Forum.

If you can answer a few questions it may help members to help you.

When wss the vehicle imported ?

How long have you had the vehicle ?

What is the current mileage ?

What petrol are you using ?

Is the gearbox 'hunting' between gears while cruising ?

Thanks for getting back to me :)

Yes it’s a 2019 import

I had it for 1 year now

Mileage = 78000 miles

Petrol = 99 Octane SHELL

No it engages gears very well. It’s like when you are cruising at stable 70mph and trying to maintain 70mph by lifting your foot gently from gas pedal and gas it gently it feels jerky like something is loose or a engagement gap (struggling to explain in words )

So it is a relative high miler, for its age.

With such a mileage, I doubt changing the auto oil will do any harm.

Its condition may be a pointer.

I'll be interested to see what Picasso's view is.

Happy New Year :)

Thanks Rojie – I will go ahead with gearbox oil change

Can someone please help with instructions how to change gearbox oil – specifically I could not locate the hole to add new oil. Or is it just we can only add oil through gauge tube?

Please assist – THANKS.

The transmission oil goes thru the dipstick but I think you already found out till now

OiI goes in through the dip stick tube using a thin funnel . Be careful to only put back in the amount that comes out . You won't remove it all . Overfill and the box will go bang!
