Hi, we have found a company in Chesterfield that produces a base plate that will enable the front passenger seat on our first generation Alphard to be rotated. Just wondered if anyone has done this mod or similar and whether it requires the centre consul to be removed.

Hi there,

Welcome to the Forum.

There are companies doing this modification, whether they use the 'Chesterfield' part I do not know.

There are general plates available, and specialised ones for your Alphard.

Almost certainly, you will need to remove the centre console between the seats to allow the passenger seat to swivel.

I believe, you will also need to provide a cover for the 100v invertor.

A company on the Isle of Wight (and others) can provide and fit a swivel, which, they told me, works on the drivers side too.

The swivels are not cheap !

As another member has mentioned before, these swivels can increase your seat height, which can be a problem for tall passengers !

They are also available for the driver side

Good Luck

Hi. I have my front passengers seat converted in my 2006 Alphard. It's great the only problem is the height, the passenger view is restricted in the rain. As the wiper does not clear the screen high enough.

I have a 2005 Toyota Alphard. The front passenger seat looks like it should swivel but I can’t get it to do this! Can someone explain how this is done?
Thanks!

Hello Donna,

Welcome to the Forum.

The front seats do not swivel unless a special base plate has been fitted.

They are not a common modification.

Are your seats electric ally operated, or manual ?

If you have a rotating seat, I assume there should be some lever mechanism under there somewhere !

Is there ?

Thanks for your reply. They are manually operated. It looks like it has a swivel base but I could be mistaken. I’ll have a look for a lever or something similar.
Thanks again.
