On the way home the engine management light came on 🤬 Can anyone recommend a good fault code reader that works on these imports ? I did notice it failed it’s first mot beacause light was on but they must of got it to go out long enough to pass !

Please do not tell us where you bought it; although all your local Alphard / Vellfire owners would love to know and avoid. (PMs can keep this kind of info private). Perhaps the code was switched off, deleted, before you bought it. Perhaps the problem was fixed ! I have just received advice from Chris.ac on a suitable OBD2 unit. I'll try and find his post, and let you know. You are loacted quite close to Ldrego (on here) and Cuttothechase (on youtube). He has also done some work with OBD units.
Carrera1 Posted January 27, 2022 Author Posted January 27, 2022 Thanks for the reply , I imported the car through an agent . im happy with the car , it’s in great condition ? I’m sure this is just a sensor issue . once I get it diagnosed , will sort it and I’m sure the car will be fine 👍🏻

I haven't got one yet as I put my issue of slow warm up down to the old weather.

Carrera1 Posted January 28, 2022 Author Posted January 28, 2022 (edited) Thanks for that rojie , will have a look 👍🏻 Edited January 28, 2022 by Carrera1
Carrera1 Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 I’ve been keeping an eye on this, it comes after about 10 - 15 minutes of driving . im going to get the timing belt done and a major service , will get it looked at at the same time . apart from the light being on I’m really happy with the car , I’m going to get a rear conversion and fit it myself 👍🏻

Carrera1 Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 Yep v6 , it had to be for me . 2 tonnes takes a bit of moving , 2.4 not enough poke for me 👍🏻
Carrera1 Posted February 1, 2022 Author Posted February 1, 2022 (edited) I bought myself a i soft code reader , seems to work fine on the alphard . it’s saying bank two air fuel too lean . Not sure which bank is which ? it would be handy if it was a bit more specific , could be a couple of things causing that fault o2 sensor possibly ? Edited February 1, 2022 by Carrera1

I believe Bank 2 is the one closest to the radiator. Cylinder 2 is on the left hand side.
Carrera1 Posted February 1, 2022 Author Posted February 1, 2022 Cheers mate , I may have a go at replacing the oxygen sensor , see if that cures it

Carrera1 Posted February 12, 2022 Author Posted February 12, 2022 I had a look at this again , the code is there Po174 . could be a few things , hoping it’s nothing major . I’ve also bought a rear conversion that I need to fit , looks like I’m going to be busy 👍🏻

Good luck, keep us all posted on your progress; maybe a photo or two !
Carrera1 Posted February 12, 2022 Author Posted February 12, 2022 I bought it off eBay , £1000 , it comes flat packed . it’s very similar to the other rear conversions I e seen , quite a bit cheaper . I think the company is called First Cut . if I can post photos I’ll definitely get them up .
