Finally got the alphard insured and registered ,took it to work today .Very  nice drive lovely and smooth even though it’s on lowered suspension .

On the way home the engine management light came on 🤬

Can anyone recommend a good fault code reader that works on these imports ?

I did notice it failed it’s first mot beacause light was on but they must of got it to go out long enough to pass !

Sorry to hear how your first drive didn't turn out well.

Please do not tell us where you bought it; although all your local Alphard / Vellfire owners would love to know and avoid.

(PMs can keep this kind of info private).

Perhaps the code was switched off, deleted, before you bought it. Perhaps the problem was fixed !

I have just received advice from Chris.ac on a suitable OBD2 unit.

I'll try and find his post, and let you know.

You are loacted quite close to Ldrego (on here) and Cuttothechase (on youtube).

He has also done some work with OBD units.

Thanks for the reply , I imported the car through an agent .

im happy with the car , it’s in great condition ? I’m sure this is just a sensor issue .

once I get it diagnosed , will sort it and I’m sure the car will be fine 👍🏻

This is the link that Chris.ac shared with me.

It is similar to the one he has used.

I haven't got one yet as I put my issue of slow warm up down to the old weather.

I’ve been keeping an eye on this,  it comes after about 10 - 15 minutes of driving .

im going to get the timing belt done and a major service , will get it looked at at the same time .

apart from the light being on I’m really happy with the car , I’m going to get a rear conversion and fit it myself 👍🏻

I assume you have a V6 as there is no timing belt on the 4 cylinder engine.

Yep v6 , it had to be for me .

2 tonnes takes a bit of moving , 2.4 not enough poke for me 👍🏻

I bought myself a i soft code reader , seems to work fine on the alphard .

it’s saying bank two air fuel too lean .

Not sure which bank is which ?
it would be handy if it was a bit more specific , could be a couple of things causing that fault o2 sensor possibly ?

I believe Bank 2 is the one closest to the radiator.

Cylinder 2 is on the left hand side.

I think many members, myself included, would like to know where you got the Conversion Kit from.

Good luck, keep us all posted on your progress; maybe a photo or two !

I bought it off eBay , £1000 , it comes flat packed .

it’s very similar to the other rear conversions I e seen , quite a bit cheaper .

I think the company is called First Cut .

if I can post photos I’ll  definitely get them up .

Sounds like a bargain; but then you are doing most of the work !
