Well I had a bit of a shock this morning from my local Toyota dealer who've quoted me for a replacement cambelt; hope you're sitting down to read this...

replace all the tensioners, rollers, idlers, bolts, including the water pump with belts. The cost including vat would be £1454.42.

Good morning,

It's a bit of a shock to me too.

I was quoted just under £600, inc VAT, for the belt and water pump.

Probably not for all the of the other bits and pieces that your dealer seems to want to fit.

My quote was from an Official Toyota Dealer, which was happy to do the work.

Perhaps your dealer doesn't want your business.

I'll have the cambelt inspected first to see the overall condition; generally speaking, the Japanese are keen to maintain their motors; especially if you could afford an Alphard, so fingers crossed for the result!
