Coxy1960 Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Hi. I need help. My indicators and gear shift lights are not working, but my hazard lights are OK. Fuse under the bonnet is fine.
Rojie Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Hello Coxy, Welcome to the Forum. Do you mean the external indicators are not working, or the tell tale lights in the dash ?
Coxy1960 Posted April 23, 2022 Author Posted April 23, 2022 The lights on the dashboard and outside when the indicator switch is put up or down. Hazards work inside and out. No fuses inside the cab but only under the bonnet and they are all OK. Funnily the illuminated display on the dashboard is not working either , or the reversing beeps.
Coxy1960 Posted April 23, 2022 Author Posted April 23, 2022 The illuminated display for the gearshift only everything else is OK.

Hi Coxy, There are fuses on the inside of the vehicle. One fuse box is behind the passenger size lower glove box. The glove box is very easy to remove (and replace) but the fuse box is a pig to get to. Fuse 23 is for the "Meter" which is the Dash lighting. I would check that one. Is the horn working ? There is another fuse box inside on the driver's side.
Coxy1960 Posted April 23, 2022 Author Posted April 23, 2022 Hi Rojie. I will have another look tomorrow. I did take the bottom glove box off but all I found was the air conditioner filter and a bank of plugs. Are the fuses behind the plugs? The horn works by the way.

I confess, I have never looked for the fuse box. Starider has; you'll probably need a mirror. I believe it is behind a bunch of wiring. He has a lot of threads. Below is a copy of one of them from 21 March. Quote Hi, I agree the glovebox and trim are easily removed and replaced, but easy access to the fuses is greatly impaired by the mass of wiring which crosses under the fuses, this is so bulky and inflexible that you can't move it aside, the little plastic removing tool is totally inadequate and impossible to use and the fuses having been undisturbed since manufacture, are extremely difficult to pull out, Let' hope we all do not have to change fuses. I certainly made sure which fuse I needed to remove, the diagrams of each numbered fuse it's location, it's value and which circuit it protects, are excellent in the Owners Handbook. One bonus with having to remove the glovebox was that I was able to inspect the Aircon filter on the fan, which was absolutely filthy and certainly needs replacing. If anyone knows of a supplier I would appreciate details. Be careful.
Coxy1960 Posted April 24, 2022 Author Posted April 24, 2022 Managed to get to the fuse board. It is underneath the big plug in area. It is not the meter fuse as that is OK.

Coxy1960 Posted April 25, 2022 Author Posted April 25, 2022 I am taking it to an auto electrician tonight to sort it. I think I may have unplugged a cable somewhere as I was fitting a new android unit in. Anyway. He is going to wire in my reversing camera at the same time. Thanks for your help. It is much appreciated.
Chris.ac Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 when fitting the android unit, did you splice in to any wiring? attached wiring diagram for the hazards/turn signals, you may have shorted something to ground on the indicator side, the hazard feed is seperate. http://fsm.japanclassic.ru/toyota/2002.5_7a037_alphard_anh1,mnh1/x339/servinfo/x339i0307000423_base.html
Chris.ac Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 Hazard switch highlighted on the right, stalk for indicators on left
Chris.ac Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 You want your electrician to check the o/p for the highlighted pins
Chris.ac Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 (edited) But if hazards work, it would seem to isolate problem to the switchgear; did you add steering control interface or interfere with the steering wheel wiring during your install: Common path on the W-B wire at J/C (No18) If you disturbed wiring beyond that, you would have had to interfere with both the L (Blue) and L-W(Blue-white) wires, otherwise you wpuld be able to indicate at least one way or the other Edited April 25, 2022 by Chris.ac
Coxy1960 Posted April 25, 2022 Author Posted April 25, 2022 Did not touch steering wiring. Just programmed the buttons on the steering wheel from the android unit. The unit was imported for my make and model so it was plug and play. The fault occurred when I put a Dab device into the back USB on the android unit and put the antenna across the steering column and onto the side screen. I am thinking I may of pulled a plug out somewhere as the indicators did not work and the dash display for the gearshift.
Chris.ac Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 in this case: http://fsm.japanclassic.ru/toyota/2002.5_7a037_alphard_anh1,mnh1/x339/servinfo/x339i0307000123_base.html Either the 10A 'Gauge' fuse is blown, or there is some problem in the grounding path for the Cigarette lighter/illumination circuit

I just get the following:
Chris.ac Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 no - was hosted in russia, so I would speculate that the current conflict may be a cause - from the error, it looks like the host company has not been paid and has suspended the site

Coxy1960 Posted February 24, 2023 Author Posted February 24, 2023 My original problem was not a fuse in the end. I had fitted a new android unit and removed the speedo screen to run the WiFi mic and aerial wires. The control plug for the screen was not completely connected when I put it back. If this relates to you, try that. Otherwise there is a fuse panel under the glove compartment passenger side. Hope this helps.
