Oddcouple Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Can anyone tell me what this little push switch is for please?
Oddcouple Posted May 29, 2022 Author Posted May 29, 2022 If not clear, it’s under the main central panel.

Hi again Oddie, I have come across these reasons, so far, for extra switches. One is for the rear fog lights, if added for the UK MOT; but the switch needs to be lit when activated. Two, is to allow the radio to work when the ignition is switched off. There is another, if I can remember it ! Sometimes the original owners have added gizmos that get removed before export Hopefully I'll add it tomorrow, if no one else does !

I really hope it’s the radio option! Rear fog is on another switch, I’ll have a bash with the radio later on!

Catweazle Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 It may be the on/off switch fro the power source next to it.... Could be a handbrake bypass switch? It may allow video to be played on screen whilst the vehicle is in motion.

We’ve tried pushing it on and off to see if anything changes, as yet no joy…..

OldWellhouse Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 (edited) There should the a dedicated 'What Is This Thing?' thread in here. These press stud looking things in mine have me baffled. There seems to be 3 or 4 on each side of the van front to back. Edited May 30, 2022 by OldWellhouse
Chris.ac Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 (edited) stud things are to clip the curtain ties to.. The button near the power outlet is usually a way to send a handbrake signal to the headunit so that if thinks you are parked, and allows you to do things ordinarily blocked, such as adjust the bluetooth settings, display video on headunit. Thanks for that Chris, I’ll have a full play later if I can. Noticed that dvds play all the time so perhaps this is the wee button allowing that!

Doh! cheers.

To be honest, I’ve never had the need to put the footbrake on yet! But dvds happily play when driving on both front and rear screens, will have a play at the weekend…

So it does sound like a footbrake override that allows 12V to whatever is the correct pin !

Lucky87 Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 I would agree that it is the handbrake override to allow the video in motion. I have similar on my bus.

Will let you all know in a couple of days, must admit though, when I thought it might be a way to use the head unit without having to have the ignition on it made me warm inside, that’s going to be the next task!
Oddcouple Posted June 1, 2022 Author Posted June 1, 2022 So I can now confirm, whatever it’s for, it has nothing to do with the head unit 😂
