Hi all, I'm toying with the idea of converting my 07 Alphard into a camper. I don't believe in paying someone a lot of money to do what I believe I can do myself, having built various hotrods and race cars over the years. I will not be needing a pop top, just the basics for eating and sleeping. Has anyone done this and, if so can you tell me tell me if everything I might need is available as a self build kit?

Thanks in advance, Ron.

There are self build kits available.

A company that I know of is located in Barnstaple.

I believe thet will sell a flat pack.

I believe Starider has used them (not for flat pack).

Send him a PM.

Search for him. Go to his home page, and click message.

Hi Ron,

Any joy with this. I'm looking at doing the same thing. Previously did a VW T4 using ikea kitchen wall units with the backs shaped to suit the van so figure thst a kit should be a doddle in comparison.

Hi Sam, that's funny, I've been known as Richo all my working life. I've been busy working on and driving my model A these past couple of weeks but am now toying with the idea of getting serious about the conversion. The ikea idea sounds like a plan but it would still need the accessories bought and fitted. You've planted a seed.

Good luck, Ron.

Hi Ron,

I dont think I'd do the IKEA option again given a choice. I was late teens at the time and on a very tight budget.

I'm very interested in details on places that sell diy install kits
