I've just bought a second hand conversion done by calders. The finish and engine are fab. BUT the van battery keeps discharging. It ran flat twice in 24hours. Battery only 2 years old with 3000 miles.

Since I got new battery, the left window has stopped working. The mechanic wonders if there was a loose connection draining the battery which tripped when they changed it.

Also plugs from leisure battery don't work...

 does anyone have any ideas?

 Could they be related?

 Any advice much appreciated.

 Thank you!

Hi Cazalfie,

Welcome to the Forum.

Take the van back to Calders, they are one of the best suppliers.

They ought to fix it if you only just took delivery of the conversion.

The window may be because the battery was replaced.

The window controller 'forgets' the settings and closure points.

From memory, you half open each window then close it and hold for a few seconds after the window has closed.

Then do the next window and so on.

All from the drivers door. Ignition on.

You may also find your moon roof, if you have one, is also affected.

That's great to hear about calders. Trying to get it booked in.

The passenger windows won't go up or down with any control... just knackered.

Also the plugs from the leisure battery don't work. Previous owners always used the mains so didn't notice it. I think there must be something wrong electrically...

how long would you expect engine battery and the leisure battery to last off grid for an Alphard conversion? Just out of interest. Many thanks

Did Calders supply the van, or just the conversion ?

Removing/disconnecting the battery, which they will have done during conversion, could effect all windows.

Try and reset them all. It will take Calders all of 5 minutes to fix, if that is the problem.

Do you mean USB and cigarette sockets ? Are they connected ? Fuses blown ? Calders are unlikely to overlook connecting them.

Try a long deep charge of both batteries. I use the Swedish brand CTEK.

As winter approaches you should consider a new main battery.

It is not unknown for dealers to swap a good battery out and put in an old one after purchase before delivery.

Happened to me. Battery appears charged but fails to start engine within days.

To be absolutely clear, I am not inferring Calders have done this.

Obviously battery life is a function of time and load.

There are guides on the internet that can work this out for you; but you need to know the load and the battery capacity (amp per hrs).

No, it's not a battery they've supplied. The previous owners bought a new one two years ago and have only used it 14 nights and it still died...

they only used mains electricity, not leisure battery so the plug sockets (beside usb) always seemed to work. Now I'm trying off grid, they don't seem to.

I'll get calders to have a look (van bought via them them converted north of England I think)

otherwise I'm delighted!

Just teething probs which need ironed out.

 I'm a big fan already!

Thank you so much for your help.
