Hello all,

I’m glad to be here. I’ve been looking for a JDM van for a few months, and have test drove a few Elgrands. I wanted something that could easily be somewhere to sleep, so I liked the Elgrands for the electric curtains (I’ve not seem these on the Alphard). After more research though, I have decided on an Alphard (hoping for a facelift c.2009). I did this for three reasons;
1) reported reliability over Elgrands

2) reported slightly better fuel MPG over Elgrands

3) Alphard outsells Elgrand in JDM and they know both vans better than me!

I’ve put my name down for the Gaydon meet, it would be great to see your vans so I know which version to look for at the auctions.

Thanks!

Hello Lew,

Welcome to the Forum.

There are some Alphards with electric curtains. I have them in my 2006 MZG.

They are fitted to the middle and rear windows, and one, separately controlled, on the tail gate.

My only observation is that they open and close rapidly.

I would have preferred a more sedate and more seemly operation.

Maybe some of the Gen 2 have them too.
