So, a little thread which we will try to update should anyone want to follow. Set off today from Hampshire, 280 miles to our first stop which is the campsite at Tebay services on the M6. Bit of a strange stop off, but ideal to break the journey. £24 for the night with hook up. Decent facilities in the services and nice clean showers and toilets in the campsite. Also chemical disposal here and pretty much no road noise seeing as we’re next to the M6!

Tomorrow is 330 miles to the start point, via Tesco in Perth to fill up, super is a little sparse in the highlands so have planned all fuel stops on route.

Tebay we know well and also Tesco Perth (friends have a cottage at Braemar) so know exactly where you are. Should be a good drive for you as the M6 quietens the further North of Lancaster you go. Hope you have your midge nets with you. Our son has just got back from Assynt and they’re out in force still pesky little things. Safe cruising.

Day 2 completed. Now at Reraig campsite about 5 miles from the Skye bridge. This will be our start point. Nice campsite, clean facilities, lovely hot showers, £20 a night for non electric pitch. Good clean drive today, behind a silver alphie hybrid (tribrid) for a couple of hours, followed them on to Skye. 0EAA8E12-67B1-4450-BD7A-2E6A1B1042C6.thumb.jpeg.f6ea3222ad36d673c8c54127563d41e4.jpeg

Looking like rain tomorrow, no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing choice!

Day 3, short hop to Applecross. Only one campsite here, again very clean, waste disposal points, water fill up at drive by hose. Fantastic views with an option for electric. We’ve gone without hookup again, using solar which is just running the fridge and lights. £27 a night without hookup (price a little higher than others, no competition nearby).
came over the Applecross Pass, great fun, visibility at about 20m as we were in the clouds which makes hairpin bends a surprise.

Should’ve said we filled up at the co-op on Skye yesterday, only 10 mins from the bridge and £1.62 a litre! Next planned fuel stop is Ullapool on Tuesday.

Another short hop today. Hugging the west coast up to Gairloch. Beach is just over the dune where we’re camped up. Great days drive and had a wave from one of our own!!!

Tonight’s campsite is Sands just outside Gairloch, excellent facilities and location.

Nice to see some blue sky in your photos and to hear that you’re not the only Alphie up there. A friend has just suggested that I should do the Yorkshire 600. Something for you to consider on your way back down South perhaps as a little detour? 😀
