Teekay Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 I wonder if anyone using 16 inch alloys on 2nd Gen Alphard or Vellfire? Factory suggested size is 17 inch as pic below. Will 16 inch alloy be safe?
Geralt Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 I think your speedo will over-read and the ABS calibration won't be optimal. 1
arthurj Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 215/65R16 98H on mine. All the hybrid 20 series come with 16s, as far as I can tell. 2 hours ago, Geralt said: I think your speedo will over-read and the ABS calibration won't be optimal. The tire circumference is basically the same on both 16” and 17” rims, the sidewall is just bigger on the 16 to compensate for the smaller rim. No change in reported speed. 1

Thankyou Arthurj that's what I thought that it might work. Looking at https://papasmith.co.uk/alloy-wheel-fitment-guide/ looks like even other Estima Rav 4 C-HR wheels might fit too? Look at the pictures. Everything is same except the rim numbers. It might be stupid to try if they are interchangeable but I'll to find all facts and then make decision. I want original 16 or 17 inch Alphard or Vellfire alloy but they're rare like unicorn
Teekay Posted October 10, 2022 Author Posted October 10, 2022 Looks like the ET number is pretty significant I'll have to stick to oem https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/et-45-et35-difference.38514

Please don't overlook the Wheel Offset column 1

My 20 series came with 17 AFAIK all the 20 series *hybrids* come with 16” regardless of trim level (mine’s a ZR). The 17s do look quite a bit better though. Tyres make all the difference though. I replaced the old Pirelli Scorpion Verdes with Goodyear EfficientGrip SUV and they are much quieter and softer. 1

My 20 series 3.5V-L can with 19 inch alloys and worn out tyres. Not smooth ride and too low. I wanted to replace them with 17 inch but managed to get OEM 18 inch alloy so will probably stick with them. 18" are 2 cms wider than 17, and that gives extra braking performance and road handling. So I'm thinking not to change them. I believe that car Vellfire 3.5 V L must be engineered to work perfect with 18 inch too, being OEM.
arthurj Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 How much were they, if you don’t mind me asking? Was looking for OEM 17” or 18” but they seem to cost a small fortune
Chris.ac Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 In a bit slow recently, but the official owners manual lists 16, 17 and 18 inch 1
