Teekay Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I understand there is a common problem with broken headline plastic bit under the bonnet (please see the pic) and we can buy some attachment that goes between 1 and 2 to hold it. Anyone has solution for it?

Anyone has solution for it? Hi Teekay, Is it a common problem ? This is the first time I have come across it. I don't know of any part, but, from your photo, it does not appear too difficult to make a bracket to attach to the cross-headed fastening (if it is safe to remove that). Care would need to taken in tapping the standoffs numbered 2.
Teekay Posted October 18, 2022 Author Posted October 18, 2022 Hi Rojie I've seen this and told by a seasoned Vellfire owner that it is known issue and Toyota are aware of it and leave designed space to fix attachment for it. Let's see what other members say. I don't know so much about it, just sharing what I seen
ThuMentaliss Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 problem is that the bracket is not aligned correctly to the top body of the headlight luss causing the bracket to be stressed when riding over rough road etc, cheap solution is remove broken bracket ends leave screws in place but not loose ( screw thread lock does help) fit two small tie straps across the screw fitting pulling them till there's resistance job done! 1

Will this be acceptable for mot? I was told this issue not fixed can lead to mot failure, so looking for ideas. If you have done something like you suggested, can you please share picture so it is more clear. Hand drawn image can also be very useful. Thanks

Thanks When I was in the trade I never saw a MOT tech' look at fixture's of headlights only the display of the beams, I have done two within the last eighteen months no one has advised me of Failures, sorry no pictures..if you want a more substantial fixing make up a template with stiff carboard (old kellogges box) is ideal, if you have no equipment to bend your alloy shape take your template to a precision metal engineers I would be supprised if they charged you more than a fiver! 1
