Driver side automatic door

I own a 2007 Alphard. the automatic door closes halfway and then re-opens. I need help solving this issue

Which automatic door ?

 

Make sure the windows are fully closed and the fuel flap is not slightly open.

The driver side automatic door. The windows are up and fuel flap is closed, the problem is not resolved. Any other suggestions?

Hi Sheldon , this has just happened to my 2008  Vellfire this was also the drivers side . It opened halfway and then closed again , after that both doors and boot all stopped working. Try this as it worked for me , disconnect the battery positive over night , reconnect in the morning and then drive for at least 5 miles, this gives all the ecu’s a chance to reset . Hi Sheldon , it seems that the door thinks it is hitting an obstruction, you could try servicing the door runners and equipment to make the door slide easier, other than that it could be a sensors on the edge of the door and edge of the post , are they clean ? Good luck, stormy Steve.

Hi Sheldon , I’m not that great at sending images etc over the internet, however , if you go into YouTube and ask your questions you will find answers, that’s how I solved my problem but it took me a couple of weeks to find the answers and that was also with the help of the great guys in the Alphard club . You will find the sensors half way up the door shut and b post , that’s the post the door closes onto they are like to black dots about 15mm diameter and they face each other so that if something blocks their beam like an arm or your body they will stop the door from closing. They could be dirty or faulty , if you cover one when the door is closing it should stop and open again. I can only suggest YouTube or an auto electrician. Good luck, stormy Steve.

I have same problem..so annoying. It was supposed to be well built premium jdm top mpv. Don't know what happened..
Need to dig into fixes any look into forum posts

Forum mods - will it be possible that we have a way of tagging posts that work as proven fixes? So one can find them bit quicker?

It sounds like the door thinks it is hitting an obstruction so it opens again to avoid damage, the first thing I would do is lubricate the runners . Have you tried disconnecting the battery and then opening the door manually, is it stiff , is it stiffer than the other door ? These vehicles are well built but all vehicles need servicing and not just the engine . Anyway try lubricating and then go on from there . Good luck , stormy Steve . What is best lubricant for door channels? Lithium grease? Graphite? Copper greace? Wd40? Silicone spray?

Lubricate door runners with white lithium grease , you can get it in a spray can on the net . StormySteve.

I didn't disconnect the battery, but I turned off the power doors. The door with the issue is stiff. looking to get the lithium grease to lubricate the track. I will keep you updated

Hi, I had this problem a few months ago. It was simply solved by cleaning the gunge from the runner tracks and simply spaying the tracks with wd40. Later I use a bike chain lube as I thought it would last longer. Had no issues since.
