AlphardSeeker Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 (edited) Hi, We are looking at Alphard’s to purchase and have seen a few in our budget, but just want to get some advice and see what people think of these two price wise: 2008, Alphard A XL, 2.4, 40,000 Miles - 11,000 pound 2006, Alphard M XL, 3.0, 50,000 Miles - 9,000 pound Is there much in difference between these two Alphard’s given there is 2 years between them? Is this a pretty standard or good price for these models? Would you go with the 2.4 or 3? With a new cam belt is there much difference? The 2006 model looks like it has indicators on the wing mirrors and a DVD screen that fold down from the roof so might be a different specification that the 2008? I understand there are lots of variations. Anything I should look out for when viewing the vehicles or test driving it? I’m learning to read the auction form but is there anywhere I can get it checked/translated and the mileage checked? Thank you so much! Edited March 1, 2023 by AlphardSeeker

If you search the internet, you should be able to find information on how to understand the Japanese auction sheet. Do you have the auction sheet? If so you have made one of the most important first steps to ownership.
AlphardSeeker Posted March 1, 2023 Author Posted March 1, 2023 Thanks Rojie! I don’t have the form yet but will take a look when I visit to see them.

Don' t just look, get yourself a copy so you can mull over it at home. It will be big help in locating areas of bodywork that need attention, or may have been dealt with already. As a second step you could consider an AA/RAC Inspection. I paid 300 pounds and it brought a significant amount of reassurance. 2008 is a crossover year; end of Gen 1, beginning of Gen 2. The Gen it is will have an effect on value in the future. Good Luck
