2005 Alphard Left Side Sliding Door Does Not Lock

Hi, Any ideas why my Alphard left side sliding door does not lock? Eventhough I press the lock button on my key I can still open the left side sliding door and trigger the alarm.

This has happened to both sliding doors. My garage found locks were faulty and ordered replacement from japan as well as sliding door cable mechanism. Very pricey. Now selling my body organs on eBay.  Lucky the garage sells imported Alphard and prices of replacement parts are reasonable.
