Hi Guys my name us Gerry and I am in  Belfast. I have a granvia at the moment but I am looking for an alphard to convert. I was looking at the 2.4 litre alphards but I have seen reports of excessive oil burning with these engines. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks

Hi Gerry

In my opinion the 2.4 is underpowered anyway before adding conversion weight.  3.0 or even better the hybrid I think.  Mine is 2005 and doesn't have this issue

As far as I'm aware this is affecting engines produced in US for US market only and doesn't include any of the Alphards frame no. ANH10, ANH15 etc.

Attached you find Toyota report regarding this issue.

Ok Guys thanks for that.  I had a bad experience with a 1.8 toyota petrol engine which literally self destructed. I am looking for a 3.0 anyway because as you say t I drove the 2.4 and it is underpowered.

I think the 2nd generation 2.4 engines have less of an issue and a higher bhp? Correct me if im wrong?

Hi Ken That could get the case U am not sure. I have just bought a 3 litre and 2003 alphard and find it drives great. Only problem was the electric door on passengers side not working.  I was able to buy Toyota oart fir 329 and fit in a few hours.
