Halfords won't do Service as suppliers don't know oil type

Featured Replies

Has this happened to anyone else?

After I booked an MOT plus service a month ago, I got a call from the center on the scheduled day.

The person there said they can't go ahead and do the MOT

because "any of the suppliers won't confirm what type of oil this engine needs."

I got a 2007 3.0L.

After I did some research and confirmed the 5W30 would do very well, he still refused to go ahead. I ended up doing just the MOT on the day.

Has anyone done service with Halfords?

Don't bother with Halfords, try any other garage.

Interesting.

I agree with others.

I am left totally confused.

Clearly, Halfords do not realise that the type of oil you use is NOT part of the MOT. Nor is the amount i the sump, as far as I am aware.

With that level of knowledge and experience it may(!) seem worthwhile NOT using Halfords at all.

No.

They work to a script, no critical thinking skills.

Yeah, that was exactly the feeling I got while talking to that guy. Anything out of the script, he struggled to even acknowledge.

They do offer very competitive pricing, unfortunately.
