Engine Wont start. no ignition.

Hello everyone,

I had a bad battery, and after jumping it, car would not start.

Changed the battery, and also the (blown) 140a fuse.

Engine will turn over now, but not ignite.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the Forum.

Sometimes the transponder key also can cause this problem, probably malfunction or out of battery.

Key disables the immobiliser indicated on the dash as normal.

If the 140amp fuse was blown; something serious happened !

Probably reverse polarity of jump leads ! If not, something else failed big time.

 

I'm afraid I think you need a visit by a very competent mobile auto electrician; or a flat bed to your garage.

 

You probably know this, but, you should never tow an automatic transmission.

check to see if your getting fuel up to the engine you may have blown in tank fuel pump fuse

I could not find the info on which box it's located, or the relay. Do you know?

The 140a is located in the fuse box to the left of the battery. It's the main alternator fuse, and not cheap

a few, but there is ALOT of fuses in an Alphard.

The fuel pump itself is fuse 8 (EFI) 15A in the engine bay but the fuel pump relay is in the passenger side cabin fuse box, fuse 22, IGN, 10A.

Hi I have toyota Alphard 2008 . Engine not starting no crank . All dash lights on. Called Rac they are unable to start it. I add 2 images. Can anyone help me what the issue.  Thanks

Hello welcome have you had any work done recently at a garage added anything new to the Alphard such as new radio

first things first get the battery checked as it may be a dead battery a alphard needs a good battery as there is a lot of electrics so get that done first and let us know how you get on if rac tried to charge from there van and battery no good it wont crank

Kwik Fit will test your battery, under load (which is very important) for free with a printout.

Your alternator will also be tested.

 

As Lee says, your battery needs to be in tip top condition at this time of year.

Thanks for the rey. Hi its been  not driven for 3 months . I will change the battery.  It's alphard 2008 2.4 petrol

Hi I put new battery in. Change the relay and the fuse. But still not starting up. It's now cranking but not starting up  . Any suggestions.

I understand your engine will not start, but each time you try and start your (new) battery will lose it's charge very quickly (assuming it was fully charged when it was fitted) as the alternator will not maintain the charge.

 

You need to ensure you keep charging, trickle is best, until you manage to get the engine running again.
