So I have manage to get a replacement 12v starter battery that fits the slot but the battery terminals are reversed! I plugged it and didn't check the + and - thinking they would be in the same place.. they are not.. and managed to plug it in the wrong way round. I blew the big fuse on the positive cable and now replaced it but now all the electronics are working but engine doesn't turn over.

I have since checked the continuity between the fuses in the engine bay but none were blown there.

Please help if anyone knows any other fuses to check

It's YK57ZEF yes there is a fuse there that I've repaired for the moment and will replace. Do you have a source for this fuse?

Does the starter try to turn the engine over, or just nothing ?

No I can here the fuel pumps priming and the ECU relays clicking but the starter motor just doesn't spin

- Solution -

I had burst the main fuse on the battery terminal which I repaired straight away, the issue was a small 10amp fuse in the engine bay that must have been for the starter motor.

Yes I did manage to fix it. It was a case of hunting down all the blown fuses. There are about 4+ different fuse boards between the cabin and engine bay and you will need find them then check every single fuse on each board. There is also one big fuse on your positive battery terminal that might have blown too (if youve got lights on your dash this will be fine).

If you replace the battery just be carful and tripple check the polarity is correct. The leads are back to front in the alphard.

Hope that helps,

Form, fit and function.

When replacing the starter battery it is ESSENTIAL to ensure the terminals are in the correct places on the battery, AND that they are the correct polarity in those places.

Some vehicles, and batteries, are fitted with different sized posts to prevent the problem of incorrect fitment.

Those on my Alphie are the same size.

Also, if you try and place a new battery 180 degrees incorrectly, the battery leads will not reach.
