devonia Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Hi, I have a "repair as soon as possible" " Anti Roll Bar Linkage Ball joint Dust Cover Severely Deteriorated Offside Front - MoT Minor Defect What replacement parts would be needed to fix this and where to get them from? How much is a garage (not London) likely to charge to do this? Do I need a "Jap imports" specialist garage or could any garage do this? Any thoughts, much appreciated, like is it worth (presumably changing the ball joint?) getting the other end done at the same time?

However, Snows of Paignton, Exeter or Plymouth definitely will. Snows, an official Toyota main dealer, are one of the few that will work on grey imports. What about the garage that did the MOT, or is it one of the increasing number of MOT (only) places that test your vehicle but cannot, or won't, fix the failures ?
Picasso Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Front drop link take wheel off do yourself easy job what's your reg no. Will atatch part no. And drawing where located

They quoted 350GBP - which seemed a lot to me - so I didn't let them do the work. I did wonder if it is something that I could do myself - but I don't have a lift or pit or even a garage.... so it would be on jacks, wheel ramps and axle supports.
Picasso Posted January 12 Posted January 12 £350 to do a drop link link will cost no more than £20 even less than that use axle stands only the wheel needs to come off if a genuine garage do it probably 30 minute job but they will charge hours labour £60 at most plus cost of the link

As it's only an advisory, wait for the better weather. I agree with Lee, most 'ordinary' garages charge about 60per hour, (plus VAT); not worth getting your hands cold and dirty.

I have it here but when I went to replace the existing one - the spanner size is different.... the nut on the replacement (and presumably the bolt diameter) is larger...
Picasso Posted September 3 Posted September 3 with it being aftermarket part bolt and nut sizes will be different

The bolt end becomes the tapered interference fit.. I don't have the tools to measure that to the accuracy that would be needed. So I put the wheel back on and thought that I would ask before going any further.
Trevsked Posted December 10 Posted December 10 Do you have a part number for the anti roll bar bushes please? I think I may need to replace these along with the drop links. It’s a 2003 v6 auto. T.
