Is it possible to get a new radio and sat nav fitted into our new-to-us Alphard? It’s a 53 plate hybrid converted to campervan. Any suggestions and hints welcome please

Hello Alison,

Welcome to the Forum.

I took the route of adding Apple Car play to the existing head unit - it retains all the original hybrid info, cameras etc but offers a touchscreen Apple car play on the head's TV button that runs from one's iphone - includes google maps, apple maps, waze sat nav, bbc sounds, apple music, messages, phone etc etc - enough for what i need and about GBP250 to get it supplied & fitted

Car play also plays ones music & playlists on one's iphone, all accessed via the head touchscreen

I didn't fit it, but I have a Pioneer double DIN with wireless android auto/Carplay, Bluetooth and DAB in mine.

As long as it's fitted correctly, you can keep factory steering wheel controls and rear view camera.  Can run into a few complications if you have front cameras, upgraded speaker system with external amp etc.

Having removed mine to replace a DAB antenna following a windscreen replacement, I can't say I would have fancied fitting it (lots of wires!).  Each to their own but I'd personally take it to a decent car audio place and get them to advise and quote.

Yep I’d prefer a replacement head in mine with better radio, higher res screen  though OP is running a hybrid of which I don’t believe replacement heads offer the full hybrid screen informations Ie, live charging status, live power deployment, economy chart information

It’s not vital to have the hybrid information but its not something hybrid owners usually seek to lose

Happy to learn of a system that can achieve the factory hybrid information though
