I would be interested to know if owners of Alphard's and Vellfires who have converted their vehicles to camper van's have had their vehicles weighed ?

If you do a search on here for "weighbridge" it throws up some useful info.

Hi ThuMentaliss,

You could look at this thread - https://uk.alphardclub.com/forums/topic/619-overweight-vehicle/

There's not a lot of leeway between unladen and fully laden weight limits, so it's not only the potential problem of the Alphard becoming overweight as a result of conversion, but also the need to consider whether tyres / tyre pressures need to be changed or whether to upgrade coil springs.

After removing four heavy seats for the conversion, I'd be surprised if there's a significant increase. Would be interesting to know for sure of course.

Those rearmost seats are heavy !

I had our Alphard weighed. It was 2220 kg. This included our kit for a weekend, a quarter of a tank of fuel and my wife and I. The logic of doing it this way was that this would be somewhere about the weight we would have if we were stopped by the DVSA (formerly VOSA) and it gives me some idea of what the all up weight is when we are travelling. We have a 2008, 2.4 ltr Alphard with a full side conversion, rock and roll bed and a pop up roof.

Thank you. That's not far off the gross weight for any of the variants. Sounds like the exchange of seats for the conversion is an equal swap weight wise.
