Alltrades
Hi everyone, I only joined today and not to sure on how it all works, but I will find my way? First of all does anyone know of a good mechanic in the South East of England that has experience in working on Alphard’s that’s not Toyota? Most garages I have spoken to seem to be very worried about it being an Import, why I just don’t know? I would be very grateful for anyone’s help as I need my rear axle swivel pins and bushes replacing but I just can’t get a quote from anyone for doing the work? The last thing I want is to leave an open cheque book for anyone who takes it on? Thank you for your help, Regards Phil

Derek G. Marshall
We've just had new rear axle bushes and 3 rear diff bushes fitted to our 4x4 Alphard.... It's no big deal to a good mechanic and "because it's an import" is no excuse for a big bill....

Gillibanana
Hi not sure if this will be too far away but I use Sugoi Campers in Fareham (near Portsmouth). They import Alphards & Elgrands & convert them. They converted my Alphard & service & MOT it every year. Definitely recommend - they have recently won awards for their growing business. Michael Brown
Before the Alphard I had several mk2 Estima's, My local mechanic Colin Cambell at CMC Autos in Sidlesham, mobile no 07970 072239 or work no 01243 641134 has looked after all my needs. Sometimes I got the parts, most times he got and fitted them. I don't concider him expensive. Been using him since 2011. He services my Alphard and reccommended Peter Holland for the electrics. He was the chap who imported a new Inverter from Japan for me and fitted it. Not had a problem since.
sax0tone
If you have a jap import, Most Parts are the same as uk speck, if you need a co2 sensor (first one in exhaust) buy one that fits your engine size of a Lexus, over £100 cheaper and works as it should and out goes engine management light. Defo look into it before you go to a garage even better have the part with you. I have a 2.4 4wd hybrid 2005, converted to camper/day van. Ceck out Lexus parts and put ur part number in. Happy days, need my rear bushes doing also and are same as uk speck and next day delivery. 😀

Alltrades
Hi and good morning, thanks for all of you who got back to me regarding a good mechanic in the South East, unfortunately all the ones that where recommended where to far away? However after a lot of searching I managed to find a really good Alphard mechanic who completed the job in half a day and did a fantastic job without having to disconnect the rear brake pipes, as I was told by many other garages, that had never tackled the job? His name is Phil at Japtech in Southampton, he did my two rear axle bushes and replaced a front drop link for a very reasonable price and the best part is that there was no Vodka And Tonic added to the bill. I had a two hour drive there and back, but we’ll worth it Phil is a lovely friendly and very knowledgeable Alphard mechanic and well worth recommending to you members, his number is 02380 839222. The only thing was, that I forgot to take the two axle rear bushes that I had bought, showing my age now? So if anyone needs a pair I can do you a good price as I don’t think I will be around when they need doing again? Cheers to Phil the mechanic and all you members, I hope that helps one or two of you, Phil
Gillibanana
Thanks very much for that update. We’re not too far off Southampton so should my garage ever let me down that information and phone number could be useful Thankyou
