Tim b Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Hi all, we have an alhard 2006. Unfortunately the boot doesn't open or close at all without keys turned in the ignition. Fob also not working. Also note the internal lights aren't illuminating at all when doors open! All happened suddenly last week. Any ideas and suggestions would be very gratefully received?

Hello Tim, Welcome to the Forum. Are you a new owner ? Did the tailgate used to open OK ? Do you have smart locking? Presumably with a fob Do you have an electric tailgate ? Does tailgate open and close with the dash switches ? Has the tailgate been disabled from the dash? Tailgate may not open if starter battery is partially discharged. Renew the fob battery. Need to press for a second or more; it's not instantaneous. Which interior lights are you referring to ? The lights by the rear view mirror; or the room/mood lights ? The lights above the side doors ? The room lights are controlled by a switch. The lights above the doors have a switch above the doors. Cuttothechase has a video on Youtube of how to open the tailgate 1
Tim b Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 Hi Roger, thanks for the reply. All working fine when we bought the Alphard 2 years ago, sudden change 2weeks ago!. Unable to manually open the boot unless keks in ignition and tunred. Yes we have an electric tailgate and smart locking. The dash switches to the boot working once key in ignition and turned. None of the internal lights working anymore, again all working fine 2 weeks ago! I'm kinda stumped!? Will renew fob battery, thanks.
Tim b Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 The window controls from drivers door only work for the drivers side window too now, not opening/closing the back windows or passenger side indow!?! These still work individually though from the actual doors.... odd things happening here, any suggestions gratefully receied!!
smurf Posted May 8 Posted May 8 The windows probably just need resetting. I'm sure the procedure is on here somewhere, but it is something like winding all the way down and holding the switch, and then the same back up. Once that is done they should work from the driver's door again, but double check the procedure. The fact this has happened points towards a problem with 12V battery, and it may have upset the rear door controls as well. There is possibly another reset procedure for the rear door to allow normal operation again. 1
Rojie Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I have had to reset my windows more than once following battery charges and a new battery. My tailgate has never been effected. It is a simple procedure, as above, but you must use the door switches, not the switches on the drivers door. You may need to reset the sunroof too. Make sure your starter battery is full of charge. 1
