Jacqui Gibb
I’ve had my 2010 Alphard 2.4 converted by Summersday campers in Sheffield and it’s lovely pop top roof, awning, kitchen, electric bed, lithium leisure battery, solar, invertor etc .. the usual My insurance needed upgrading for the remainder of the term which was agreed by Marker Study but cost ££s I’m finding it hard to get many new quotes now it’s up for renewal it seems grey import combined with camper conversion (possibly age/value ratio) is off putting to insurers and a couple of quotes I’ve had from insurers recommended on here are a bit steep Who are you all finding will insure Alphards with conversions? many thanks jacqui

I had the misfortune to have my front screen cracked by a truck hauling road gravel at the major A303 roadworks. Scenic were very good indeed, no quibble, they arranged everything with Autoglass. A three week delay due to ordering the screen. Fitted at my home in no time. They do require a Gas Safety Certificate (not a legal requirement for a camper conversion; but is for Caravan or Motorhome) if you carry gas bottles. Cost ? £60, and worth every penny for the reassurance that the Gas Fitter certainly knew what he was doing ! Good Luck.
Arthur
Hi Jacqui I’m using a company called Caravanguard.co.uk. The premium for insuring our 2007 AWD Alphard with pop-top and side conversion was £349. They’re a specialist caravan / motorhome insurer so you shouldn’t have any trouble getting a quote - and you get to talk to very nice human underwriters instead of AI computers! I think your premium is very reasonable, mine is a little more.
Geralt
Mine is through safeguarduk.co.uk and was £419 at last renewal. Have not had to make any claims though which is the real test.
Jacqui Gibb
Thanks everyone, I got a good deal with Caravanguard, the dealmaker is that with them I got up to 9 months cover per year in Europe with European breakdown, multiple trips allowed, other policies we very stingy with their allowance! pipsyp
I found Just Kampers to be very good, but expensive when cancelling (want 230 quid to walk, on a policy I only renewed a month or two ago). Is fair to say Alphards aren't the easiest things to insure, particularly once they've been camper converted!
