Hi all, I'm looking for a quite recent toyota alphard hybrid camper, any advice? At the moment I can find very few and they're all conversions with a long waiting list. I'd be grateful for any tips as well as info from anyone about what they're like. Thank you!

Hello Ian,

Welcome to the Forum.

It is difficult for members to advise where to 'shop' if they don't know where you are located !

At this time of year all the convertors will be extremely busy.

If they aren't, I would be very careful.

Lead-times, at a guess, will be at least 8 weeks, possibly as many as 12.

Are you looking to buy a van and then have it converted by the vendor ?

Or looking to buy a van and looking for an independent convertor ?

Or looking for a van already converted ?

Thanks for the advice. I’m looking for a van that has been converted.

Got a Alphard Eco pioneer that has been converted SL04ZUY bought it a few months ago but not going to get use out of it as situation has changed.

It drives great 40 plus miles to gallon good condition photos available.

I paid over price for it but my loss could be your gain.

Did you manage to source a van ?

What you are/were/looking for will be very expensive; and that is just the van.

Converters wishing to make a profit on these will be concerned about their margin; hence, imho, they will be rare for some years to come.

Once you have a cost for the van, add at least £5k for a conversion, and then the sale price will include the dreaded non-recoverable (unless you are a business) VAT.

I am aware of a converted 2008 camper close to me, by a very well known high quality converter elsewhere in the country.

Asking price is not below £30k.

I will not even try to suggest what budget you will need, and, of course, even that depends on your requirements.

Good Luck.
