@ 2500rpm through to 3000rpm a rattle appears to be coming from the top end , this happens when the vehicle is stationary and under load whilst driving, under and above these parameters the noise is not present, no heat shield loose ,timing belt and water pump changed recently including tensioners.

any one have any idea what the problem is my Mechanic is scratching his head.

That's when the vvt motors shift. Ask you mechanic to activate them as a diagnostic test using techstream.

Probably not it, but last time we had a service the mechanic found a piece of paper in our air filter in the people heater/air access. Stopped our noise immediately, and it was odd like yours and was a rattling/ticking sort of noise. Worth a look?
