Programming new fob without original

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

Looking at a 2006 gen 1 alphard.

The price is good, but the owner says he doesn't have the remote key anymore. He just has a key which unlocks and starts the vehicle.

From reading other threads on here, it looks like I may be able to buy a new key blank like This and then either try and find an automotive locksmith or use tech stream to register it with the van.

Only issue I'm seeing is that some posts on here mention needing a master key. Does that mean this won't work without the original?  Any advice appreciated, and if anyone has a known trusted auto locksmith on the South coast, that'd be great too

Thanks

The key you show should be OK after the auto-locksmith has done his bit.

He will read the 4D67 chip, and progress from there.

The key you have will have the 4D67 chip in it, or it would not work for you now.

My auto-locksmith insisted on using my 'master' key to programme all my keys as masters (except the green valet key).

Of course he also cuts the key(s) too.

I think there was some 'artistic licence' (some fibbing) here but the keys work manually and remotely.

I can give you the name of my local guy; he may be with a franchise.

Actually working with my vehicle at my home helped him a lot; as opposed to being in some shop.

Not cheap, but well worthwhile.

Sorry, I missed the important bit.

A 2006, manufactured after Sept 2005, will be a facelifted model which uses the 4D67 chip.

Earlier models use a different chip.

DVLA will have the date of manufacture (supposedly) if the vehicle is already registered in the UK
