Chajoma Posted August 27 Posted August 27 I need to get behind the dash to work out why this isn't working. I can't see where to start. Any idea anyone? Detailed instructions would be most welcome.
Voodoo101 Posted August 27 Posted August 27 I assume you are talking about the 12v socket not the storage box, unless the storage box is stuck. If it is the 12v socket then you just need to removed the head unit / gear shift surround. To remove that press the shift lock button, move to N. Unscrew the shift knob and remove. Open the little storage pouch (dont know why but makes it easier) and then pull up from the bottom, working you way up to free it. You can then get to the back of the 12v socket. Not much to see apart from two wires coming out of the wiring loom going into a white plug. Unless somebody has cut the wires to feed something else, I would more look at the fuse.

Thanks I'll give it a go. The reason to get behind there is I have a cable coming out of the other 'hole' to connect to the head unit for android auto. The cable has gone back inside and I can't retrieve it through the hole. Thanks again

Thanks again If its a USB then fit a little socket. I have one for mine, although I use mine to sideload stuff to my Android unit. You can get them off Ebay for cheap, just check the size to make it fit. The one by the 12v socket I made into twin charging ports and ran the lead from the head unit beside the steering wheel.
Chajoma Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 Good advice. It's on a flying lead at the moment but I do need to do something to stop this happening again.

I followed these instructions but nothing was moving. Did you miss a step? Or am I pulling the wrong bit?
Chris.ac Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Its quite a hard tug you need to give on lower edge, it will seem like you are going to break trim. I grip the storage pocket and hard tug towards you. 1
dragondrummer Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Don't forget to wrap some masking or electrical tape around the square black button ,It prevents it from falling into the abyss that is the center console!
Voodoo101 Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Just pull it hard from the bottom. It will lossen and then work your way up. Dont pull it all the way off as there is a plug connected under the pocket, gear shift chrome cover for the light. You should be able to find your lead without unplugging it.
Chajoma Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 Do I tug at bottom of the silver trim or the black trim including the lower bin?

Chajoma Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 That's got it. Thank you so much for your help and your patience. All fixed and looking lovely. 😊
Chris.ac Posted August 31 Posted August 31 No problem. It is quite intimidating at first, as the amount of force required seems like you will break something. The only trim you need to be careful with, it's the wood effect trims, the tabs are quite brittle, so using decent tools is required.

I was going to do this and wrap them, but I have found some plastic stick on covers on AliExpress
