I found a cable hanging behind my head unit (a Sony aftermarket unit) that looks like somebody has cut the plug off. It looks after market with the sleeving and it has a phone connector. I followed it back to under the passenger seat where I expected it to be plugged into a box, but it connects to another connector and looks like its been tapped off an orginal cable. I know its not the reversing camera, I dont have an amp or a front camera (that I can see), so I am assuming it goes to the roof monitor that has never been working,

Can somebody confirm and if so it has 3 wires, a red, white and brown. I am assuming that it is positive, negative and acc, but could be wrong. Anyone shed any light on it and what the white plug is for.

Thanks in advance

In answer to my own question, as nobody else seems to know. The red is positive, the white and brown are negative. The white plug does not seem to do anything. Wiring the positive and negative give it power, adding a video feed shows a picture

so you have a permanent live there? perhaps originally one of the others was a remote, for turning on the rear screen when the main stereo was turned on?

No the screen is wired to the ignition. It turns on when you open it and then shuts off when close it.

The only problem I had was my head unit feeds out HDMI but the screen has an RCA. Ended up having to run a USB socket to plug in a convertor

Not the greatest picture and the fact I can only mirror the front screen is not great, but it was there doing nothing and people in the back can stop keep asking me how long till we get somewhere lol

Hi mate Brown would normally be Remote in or out depending on your roof Screen, Activated from head Unit.

Thanks. I thought that, but I tested with 12volts and as long as white was negative, it didnt matter if you used brown or red on positive, the screen still sparked into life, so I just used two cables. It turns off when it is closed and on when you open it.

It will probably never get used, it was just annoying me not working

Wondering if anyone in here would know. I connected the rear screen to my new head unit with methods I found in the forum; the screen opens and works with the remote, but i cannot get it to tv mode; or to play anything besides the menu that shows DVD, hdd, am, fm.  Most of the other buttons on the remote work to take me to screen settings etc. But cannot for the life of me get it into input mode from the aux or rca line. I've got a 2009
