kellythegeek Posted December 5 Posted December 5 I need this community's help. I live in canada and bought a beautiful 08 60km vellfire. Passed import inspection, passed another province's safety inspection and passed my province's safety inspection, or so I thought.... well I was called in for a follow up inspection as no one checked the headlights and tail lights for DOT certification which of course it failed as it's from Japan. Sooo now they pulled my insurance and registration till I can fix. Well the tail lights can be fixed with a bit of reflective tape but they are giving me no options with my headlights. All they say is get dot approved. (Reason of failure is no reflective on side, doesn't matter that other cars don't have that and that my van has a reflector 15 cms below.) Soooo does anyone have a great idea about how to get around this issue OR a comparably shaped headlight that I can somehow modify to fit in the opening??

We do have a few Canadian members, but their input has been about their issues, not their location. Whilst I cannot promise anything, I will, somehow, try and identify these Canadian members. IF I am able to do this, I will contact them and request they contact you. They may have had the same issue, or know some business that can help you out. So, the issue seems to be with the Winnipeg authorities. So the Winnipeg DOT require a reflector within the headlight assembly ? What colour does the side reflector need to be ? You need to provide the Forum with your VIN number. You can do this privately through me by Private Message from your home page, if you prefer. I have a colleague who may be able to use your VIN to make some suggestions.
