Steering wheel buttons

Hi fellow Alphard / Vellfire owners

 

I just bought a lovely sew on steering wheel cover from AliExpress but as you would expect, it does not fit 100 %. I had a section that pushes under the steering wheel button grey panels but it keeps popping out. Are these panels easy to remove or do you have to take the airbag out. I thought I may be able to fix it down better
