SYL Posted May 21 Posted May 21 (edited) Hi, I have just had my renewal quote from Flux and it has gone up around £280. Who is everyone using as their campervan insurance provider? Edited May 21 by SYL
Bracey Posted May 21 Posted May 21 (edited) Hi. I haven't bought mine yet (2005 2.4 Hybrid) but Adrian Flux quoted £812 online and £792 when I called them. I assumed I'd have to go through a specialist like them, being an import car. But I've just been on Compare the Market and I've got quotes from £496 (cheapest) and £504 (Aviva Premium) for a policy with all of the available add-ons included. Edited May 21 by Bracey More information about the policy
luscombe lady Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Hi Syl, Ive had a big motorhome before, but I searched a lot for insurance when I put deposit on my Vellfire yesterday. Confused.com got me best offer with Caravan and MotorhomeClub (Devitt Insurance) and I've been with them before = through confused.com at present they are giving the first year of membership to Caravan and Motorhome Club free (usually £66.50) which gives good discounts on breakdown insurance and also access and discounts on the club campsites. Mine was £356.44, and I opted for additional legal cover £29 so a really competitive offer and they are good insurers used to dealing with campervans. Good luck. Betty
Rojie Posted May 22 Posted May 22 I was with Aviva, but they stopped providing insurance for Campers. They were very good.

Quite a reasonable cost.
SYL Posted Wednesday at 08:55 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 08:55 PM Hi Gary, I have just done a quote with them and it came in at £369, impressive! Beats nearly £900 with Flux. Just going through all the small print lol. They will not cover commuting? I don't use it for that but just need it just in case my car has to go in garage. I will see what they say when I call them, thanks 😊
Garyc Posted Wednesday at 08:58 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:58 PM Hi ours doesn't include commuting but I did add full breakdown, protected no claims etc, there reviews seem pretty good

The small print says my immobiliser needs to be Thatcham approved how do I know if it is if it is a factory fitted one?
Garyc Posted Wednesday at 09:24 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:24 PM Hi the application just asked if it was factory fitted which it is, I didn't look any further than that in afraid

I'm insured with Caravan Guard. They take a lot of details, but it means nothing is left to chance. The only downside with them is that it does have to a professional conversion and they do ask who did it. If it isn't on their list they won't offer cover. I can't remember the cost off the top of my head, but it was very reasonable. Edited Wednesday at 09:59 PM by smurf

Unless all factory fitted are Thatcham approved?

Ours was done Prof before I bought it not sure who buy and not got the paperwork, but that was only the popyop, cooker, sink and internal lights and electrical equipment, we have done everything else like heater and bed etc
Garyc Posted Thursday at 06:28 AM Posted Thursday at 06:28 AM Yes just read that in the booklet, I would imagine it's the same with most insurers, I will look at getting a Thatcham tracker fitted
SYL Posted Thursday at 06:37 AM Author Posted Thursday at 06:37 AM Let me know what you paid for tracker and how easy it is to fit.
smurf Posted Thursday at 07:49 AM Posted Thursday at 07:49 AM Those conditions read to me that they only apply when they are stated in your insurance schedule. If they aren't in the schedule, then they don't apply. I'd double check with the insurer.
Garyc Posted Thursday at 08:01 AM Posted Thursday at 08:01 AM Yes I'm of the same opinion as it is not requested at the quoting stage, just asks if it is manufacture installed, typical insurance
SYL Posted Thursday at 08:08 AM Author Posted Thursday at 08:08 AM I agree, typical 🙄 insurance trying to play on words. But it's worth checking
