Just acquired a 2005 alphard 3.0 ltr v6. Love it. Everything works fine. Any advice on understanding Japanese on head unit?

Welcome to the Forum.

 

1) Google Translate on your phone.

 

2) eightseaters.blog.spot (or something similar) is excellent for the HDD unit if you have it.

In English, very helpful on the HDD unit. Which buttons to press, etc.

 

3) The language cannot be changed to English.

 

4) Don't expect the sat nav to work or the radio except Radio 2; or the TV.

 

5) Region 2 DVDs may work, but not while driving. CDs should work (and be saved automatically to the HDD if you have one)

 

6) 2005 is a crossover year from Gen 1 to Gen 1 facelift; which depends on when it was manufactured.

Have done a bit of research and came to the same conclusion as you have said. I will muddle though. But still happy with the vehicle maybe learn Japanese 😁
