JonJones Posted Friday at 04:11 PM Posted Friday at 04:11 PM So when I took my steering apart last night, this part fell out and fell apart. It was all broken. Put the car back together and it doesn't start. The red car/key light is constantly flashing, so assume it's immobilised There's a tiny copper wire that comes off the circuit board and wraps around the inside of the clear plastic bit, that's broken. Weirdly I don't think the imobiliser has ever worked (never seen the flashing light 'til this morning). Could unplugging the ignition cable have turned it on somehow? Does anyone know if that part can just be replaced? It wouldn't need coding in or anything? (so it'll work with my imobilliser, rather than the original car it'll have come off) Thanks
Picasso Posted Friday at 05:34 PM Posted Friday at 05:34 PM Hello Jon can you pm me your reg no. I will find the part for you I believe this is the antenna ring so won’t need coding
JonJones Posted Friday at 05:38 PM Author Posted Friday at 05:38 PM Hi, it’s YN04 BNS i might have found one, but let me know in case that falls through
Picasso Posted Friday at 06:06 PM Posted Friday at 06:06 PM It’s not available separate new without buying ignition barrel the unit you broke is the immobiliser amplifier so I think if your buying a 2nd hand one it will need programming to the vehicle

How much is a new barrel? would soldering the broken cables work?
Picasso Posted Friday at 07:00 PM Posted Friday at 07:00 PM Worth trying soldering you got nothing to lose
Picasso Posted Friday at 07:08 PM Posted Friday at 07:08 PM Good news I was wrong on that part not being separate check this link. https://www.amayama.com/en/cart I buy lot of my parts from here all genuine Toyota but can take up to 2 weeks to get try your local Toyota dealer with part no. 8978333100 1
JonJones Posted Friday at 08:43 PM Author Posted Friday at 08:43 PM (edited) AH WOW! You absolute hero!! I'm going to grab a 2nd hand one tomorrow to test, (mainly for the roadtrip in the V8 SL55 Merc). But will order one from here too. EDIT: would it still need coding to the van though? Thanks! JonJones Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago Quick update. After a 5 hour round trip to Wrexham (the scenic route!) I can confirm that a 2nd hand part works fine, no coding etc needed. Winner!!
