Hi I'm looking to fit a towbar, Google advises that as there is no weights on the vin plate then the vehicle would not be insured should anything occur, my insurance company isn't bothered at all and advised it does not affect my policy if I tow, any information please also which towbar do I need, eBay seems to carry 2 options 

I have a tow bar on a 2003 hybrid fitted by Campers Scotland, I cant see any info on it sorry. I think a big consideration however is what weight the hybrid can tow. I only use it for a bike rack, im not sure the early hybrid drive train is suitable for heavy towing?

No Japanese import carries official capacities on VIN plates.

 

You just have to be sensible. 

 

I would use the 85% of the vehicle mass as a guide.

Thank you I'm well within the 85% and my insurance is happy with the towing side of things
