tarvos Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Hi all, Can anyone recommend a good source for reconditioned racks? Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and replace this on our ANH10. I have a "pebbles in the steering" feeling during low speed maneuvering and looks like there is potentially runout on the input shaft looking under the dash. Trouble is, the rack I have is already a recon rack fitted last year by my camper converter (now out of business). It never felt right but they denied there was an issue just before packing in. So I know there is at least one dodgy source of Alphard recon racks in the UK. I'm not sure where they got it. It's possible the internal parts are hard to source so they get little more than a lick of paint wherever I might buy from... Just trying to exhaust my options before paying out over £500 to ship a new one in from Japan... Thanks in advance
Picasso Posted July 31 Posted July 31 hello george check this link i had my rack from here https://www.autojapspares.co.uk/toyota-alphard-24i-30i-2002-2008--reconditioned-power-steering-rack-36913-p.asp 1
John31 Posted Wednesday at 02:41 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:41 PM Hi Lee (Picasso), I too have been told I require a replacement steering rack as the bushes are nearly shot. Can you tell me whether the the bushes would be included as part of the reconditioned "autojapspares" rack?
Picasso Posted Wednesday at 03:25 PM Posted Wednesday at 03:25 PM jack if rack is ok just get the bushes changed its a common mot failer for these bushes to fail try this link the garage just press the bushes out and press new ones in https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125378698970?itmmeta=01K1ZZRGZS3Q95JGNG1AZP4DP0&hash=item1d31271eda:g:lqQAAOSw8W5aZwa1
Picasso Posted Wednesday at 03:26 PM Posted Wednesday at 03:26 PM if you go down route of buying a rack new bushes should be part of the reconditioning
