Hi I’m a new member.

I’m losing coolant from my 2007 hybrid. My local garage - not a Toyota specialist - says it’s the  water jacket.

Has anyone had experience of getting one replaced. Is it a big job? Thanks

Hello Steve,

Welcome to the Forum.

Water jacket ?

The engine block, or part of the hybrid system ?

“ on the right hand side of the engine block as you look at the car”

I filled the coolant reservoir and as soon as it circulated the brand new coolant was dripping beneath the car and could be caught in a dish.
Thanks for replying

The most likely common failure point on the coolant system is a plastic T piece around the back of the engine. Unless you can actually see coolant leaking out of the block, I would investigate that first.

Hello steve worth a go get a bottle of k-seal and put it direct in the radiator let the engine run for 10 minuits this stuff is brilliantit fills any small holes in metal you got nothing to loose trying it bmw used to put a bottle in every new engine built its great stuff almost works straight away i carry a bottle incase of emergencys

Personally I wouldn't jump to use a liquid sealant before knowing what the issue is, as once that stuff is in there sealing holes it can seal any hole including ones there by design.

If BMW really did put it in new engines I think they need to review their design and manufacturing processes if they couldn't get them to hold in coolant 🤣
