Hi all,

My 2006 MZ Alphard has electrically powered curtains on the side windows and tailgate.

One of the curtains on the tailgate fails to retract or pull closed properly when the button is pressed.

When closed and I try to open them by button the passenger side curtain only retracts fully from the top rail and a little from the lower rail, and likewise if trying to close them the curtain only moves a little in from the outside edge.

I can manually open or close them by gently pushing/pulling the top and bottom runners simultaneously and there is no resistance.

I think it has to be cable operated and would like to ask if any members have any experience of these curtains?

All advice gratefully received before I start opening up the tailgate to have a look.

I have a similar problem, mine operate less than perfectly.

I just use them manually.

When operated electrically  they open and close very quickly, not slowly and smoothly as you would hope.

Try using silicone spray in rails or furniture polish hope this helps

Thanks both for your replies,

I may try some silicone spray, I think I have some somewhere otherwise I’ll stick to manual opening and closing for now.

So I was clearing out my toolshed the other day and found my tin of PTFE lubricating spray and decided to try spraying  the rails of the read curtain track which I did and wiped the excess off, manually moved the curtains back and forth then tried electrically closing them, the spray worked a treat, now opening and closing like they used to. I then did the same for the side curtains which work better than they did although they weren’t really sticking before.
