Can anyone please recommend a Toyota Alphard dealer (West Lothian or Central Scotland) who can investigate this battery issue?

 

1. RAC jump-started the van, tested the battery, thought it was OK - and suspected an earthing issue, suggested we get an auto electrician.

 

2. Auto electrician could also jump-start the van, and confirmed the battery between the front seats was OK. He thinks there is another battery that is used to crank the engine. He says we should take it to a Toyota dealer for investigation. (The conversion company we bought the van from has, unfortunately, closed down.)

 

I'd be really grateful for any advice.

Hello Susan could you please pm me your reg no. Or vin no. So I can check if you have another battery installed elsewhere 

If you have a Campervanco conversion, your 12V battery is under the driver's seat. It doesn't crank the engine though, it just provides 12V power. Without that 12V though, it will not start.

Thank you Smurf, it was a Campervanco conversion.  It's such a shame that they've closed down. Do you know of any companies local to us who would be able to help?

Susan I don’t know if Calder campers is any way near you some of the guys who worked for Campervanco now work for Calder campers 

Thanks Picasso, that's really helpful - Calder campers is about 10 miles away...  I'll give them a phone tomorrow.
