Good morning, having chickened out of trying to change the cig lighter fuse/repair the fitting, is there any other way of connecting my sat nav to power up.

This would also apply to my dash cam both of whom need a cig lighter socket.

Do you have an etc card reader fitted?

Its useless in the UK, but they usually have a permanent 12v and an acc 12v and ground connection to them ( i know this to be true on the 20 series alphards)

Its safe to disconnect the etc and use it's connector to tap into.

Thanks, I'll check but it's not obvious to me. May it have been taken out when the new radio/ reversing camera put in? There is also a short cable with a usb socket at the end that I can attach a phone to which allows the phone to charge. That was fitted as part of the radio upgrade. The need for an accessory socket/cig lighter is really for my dash cam and a small car hoover. Thanks for your help. Cheers Graham

Depending on the original owner, they may have used the oem etc which will look like a credit card slot in the dash , or an aftermarket unit which will adjust have a card for in it, but may be mounted in the footwells or glove box.

You could also tap into the wiring for the map lights.

You can also buy an obd2 adaptor that will give you power
