Hi All, just a note to anyone with an Imported Alphard regarding Breakdown Cover. I took cover for mine with Motoring Assistance 3 months ago as i bought my Alphard in July. I gave them all the details reg, engine etc and they gave me a quote to which i went ahead with. Yesterday i was at my home and the camper wouldn’t start just a clicking sound so i rang them and they asked for the reg and details then said we cant come out as its an imported car. I stated that well why give me cover when i gave them the details and was told it would have been in the Terms and Conditions also i wont get a refund so i asked them to cancel so he said we wont charge you for canceling as a good will. I have now got cover with my insurance Adrian Flux and they do Imported. The starting problem was just the Battery i got a jump start and all ok now.

Thats really odd that they declined.

I can understand maybe 25 years ago, as i had something very similar (on a Nissan GTI-R), however these days its very common. It sounds like (for them)its a pain as they just want something quite straight forward on a call out.

Just check the recovery agent / cover agent with Flux.

personally i still go with AA. If you have a 4WD car its important, as you need to know if they have flat bed recovery to ensure the 4wd system is not messed up if it needs to be recovered.

A Nationwide Flex plus account for £18 a month gives full personal European AA breakdown with no age (or import) restriction on the vehice being used. It also gives Aviva travel insurance and there is gadget insurance as well.

Lloyds Bank also offer similar cover to Nationwide.

Although a little more expensive, it offers cover up to age 80 AND covers ANY vehicle I am trvelling in, whether owned by me or not.
