Leisure battery

Featured Replies

Hi

I have recently acquired a 20 series 2015 vellfire 2.4.

It is a 7 seat layout. I would like to keep the 7 seats but use it as a weekend van so am looking to fit a lithium leisure battery to run a fridge.

Has anyone any tips? Where is best to locate it? I wondered about having a DC DC or MPPT unit ?50A in the car with an Anderson connection so I can have a power unit ?100 - 200Ah that I can move in and out of the car as required?? Are there holders one could use in the engine compartment to save space in the vehicle??

Also any tips on bed layout eg front and middle or middle and rear?? Do you use loungers on the seats to even them out or mattresses or any bespoke solutions you can share??

Thanks for any thoughts and advice

Toyota did make dual battery holders that fitted in the engine bay of winter edition Toyota Regius and granvia mpvs ( the precursor to the 10 series alphard).

I believe the 2.4l engine bays have sufficient space that retro fitting one of these or an after market battery tray should be feasible

Thank you Chris, I will see if I can track one down

Another option.

On the 20 series hybrids, the 12v battery is stored in the little cubby hole on the rear passenger side of the luggage area.

This means you should be able to get the corresponding 20 series panel.

It should also mean there is a possibility to use existing wiring or conduit, if the loom is common, to get this to the centre console for charging and power distribution.

That would be very useful. Did some come from the factory with a pre fitted leisure battery? I guess the loom wires would be pretty hefty and so hopefully easy to identify if they exist already?

Thanks for your help. I will see if I can find some pictures or more information.
