car doors not locking with key and car bak boot locked

Featured Replies

I recently imported a 2014 Toyota Vellfire. The car drives well and everything initially seemed fine. However, I was informed that the battery had been completely dead for around two to three months before I received the vehicle.

After recharging the battery, the driver-side window controls were not working. I reset all the windows, and they are now functioning properly.

Unfortunately, I am experiencing an issue with the central locking system. When I press the unlock button on the key, the car beeps, but it does not lock. I currently have to use the physical key to lock the driver’s door, and the other doors must be locked manually as well. In addition, the rear boot is locked and cannot be opened.

I have been advised that the system may simply need resetting, but I am unsure how to do this. If anyone has experience with this issue or can provide guidance, I would greatly appreciate your help.

Thank you in advance.

Does pressing the black button on the driver's handle not work to lock?

If you have access to the techstream diagnosis tool, you can check all the door locking signal logic.

I had an issue where i could lock, but not unlock.

It was a solid state relay mounted on the ecu behind the glove compartment.

Sometimes these can 'stick'

I gave it a tap with the back of a screwdriver and my central locking has been working okay for the last 3 months.

What i find strange is no beep on unlock.

The boot is independent to the 4 doors.

Do you have electric opening bit that you can control from the buttons near the rear view mirror?

You can manually open the boot, by removing the small square panel from the inside, at the bottom of the door. There is a latch you can press.

The driver's door panel control is more of an issue.

You should hear it triggering the central locking in the unlock position, if the fob is working to unlock.

You have checked the fuse?

Hi there,

Thank you for your message. I don’t have access to the diagnostics tool. I can confirm that the doors can be opened and locked manually; however, they cannot be locked using the key, which is an issue.

Additionally, I have attempted to open the boot manually using the latch, but it is not responding. I have also checked the relevant fuse, which appears to be in good condition.

Please advise on the next steps.

Kind regards,
