Auto transmission fluid leak

Hi All. I have what appears to be a fluid leak of transmission fluid. Very small at the moment with a drop every few days. Does anyone have any ideas why it might be and might it result in a costly repair. Thanks in anticipation its a 2003 Alphie which is still in good nick and has been a great vehicle )
