Crusty oil inside oil cap

Featured Replies

Hi,

I carried out an oil change on my Alphard a few weeks ago, hadn’t been done for over 3 years 😳

After a few runs I noticed the bit of the engine you can see through the filler cap is all dry and crusty?

Is this normal? On previous cars this would be all nice and washed with fresh oil. The oil cap is bone dry too

Is something up?

(It was like this before the oil change, thought fresh change might fix it)

Hello Jon mine was the same it’s carbon build it what you need to do is give it a engine flush before you change the oil this will loosen up all the carbon and clean the engine

Ah of course! Cheers for the info.

When I oil changed, I ran a bottle of engine cleaner through, before removing the old oil. Maybe it needs it doing a few times.
