I’m looking for some advice regarding an Android head unit I have installed in my Vellfire. I’m really happy with it but getting a stable radio connection is driving me up the wall.

Everything needs a good internet connection to work, Apple Music, Amazon music, global player, Rayo, but I find it constantly disconnects or kicks me off the app when I loose connection.

I have fitted the stick on 4G antenna on the front drivers A pillar. I installed a dab aerial on the passenger A pillar in the hope that I could use dab instead of internet radio apps but that’s just as bad.

I have a EE SIM card installed in the head unit and I’ve tried linking to my phone (sky mobile) through car play.

Neither works consistently.

Do I need to fit a better aerial / booster or is this just how these android head units are?

Have you tried hot spotting your phone and using WiFi?

If you are trying to use FM make sure you have wired up the power on signal from the head unit for the antenna signal booster, or the radio signal will be terrible. That shouldn't affect the DAB aerial you have installed, though. DAB really doesn't like crap aerials, so make sure what you have installed is of a good quality and has been grounded to bare metal on the body of the car.
